Allan MacDonald, Alan McGowan and Jane MacNeill

Allan MacDonald
Allan MacDonald's landscapes are being increasingly recognised and sought after by collectors throughout the country. His work has an almost spiritual feeling for the power of nature. This is combined with a vast knowledge and feeling for colour and oil paint, and an ability to capture a divine almost magical instant in a landscape. There is something is his work that makes his seas endless and energetic and his mountains so mountainous, sometimes sinister and sometimes glowing with light. There is alwasy something bigger than canvas and paint in MacDonald's work.

Alan McGowan
Edinburgh based Alan McGowan creates work that explores the body through paint.  His natural draftsmanship [which has won McGowan many prestigious illustrative contracts] and his familiarity with his regular life models gives his work huge freedom and allow him to constantly explore fresh ground, pushing paint in new ways.

Jane MacNeill
Jane MacNeill’s latest work is inspired by the borders ballad of Tam Lin and Janet. In the ballad Janet shows the strength of character to rescue Tam Lin from his half-mortal ensnarement by the fairy queen. It is a rich, multi-layered story well suited to MacNeill's stylish and sensitive paint handling.
