Gail Harvey is one of the UK’s most powerful painters. Her work captures an energy which goes further than the elemental forces which surround her sea-facing Shetland studio, and into a realm of purity of energy. Harvey’s lightness, and feeling for scale and colour, shows a skill that is seldom seen.

“Gail Harvey manages to remove all unessential things from her paintings; including herself, sometimes.”
Tony Davidson

Gail Harvey was born in Glasgow and studied at the Glasgow School of Art before moving to Shetland in 1988.
