PETER DAVIS (b. 1953) works in watercolour, using this medium (water and pigment) to reflect the processes of nature. The resulting work gives us a fresh take on landscape paintings; simple and complex, recognisable and abstract. DAVIS says…

“Watercolour physically reflects so well the characteristics of landscape and becomes almost a microcosm of the natural world.”

PETER DAVIS was born in the North of England and has migrated north since then, to Orkney in the 1980s and after this to Shetland.

“Sometimes very little is needed to capture everything. In Peter Davis’s hands watercolour takes on a new power to capture the beautiful and sublime northern landscapes.”

Tony Davidson, Director of Kilmorack Gallery
