Illona Morrice was born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1954. Her Father was a painter and her mother a potter. She started sculpting in her mother's workshop at an early age and has exhibited since the age of 17. On leaving college, she opened her own studio/gallery in the centre of Copenhagen.
Illona moved to Scotland in 1979 and has exhibited throughout the country since then. She was awarded the Zonta Club prize and medal at the annual Aberdeen Artists show.
In 1998 Illona featured on the BBC Arts program "The Usual Suspects". Her commissioned Public Works include a memorial sculpture for the 300th annniversary of the founding of Kingston-on-Spey, Moray, and the Woodend Hospital Entrance Sculpture, Grampian Hospitals Art Trust.
