Laurence Broderick

Born in Bristol, 1935, Laurence Broderick studied sculpture under Geoffrey Deeley at the Regent Street Polytechnic , Sidney Harpley and Keith Godwin at the Hammersmith School of Art, London. He divides his time between studios in of Cambridgeshire and the Isle of Skye. Broderick was awarded Associate Membership of the Royal Society of British Sculptors (ARBS), and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts (FRSA). He is joint president of the Intentional Otter Survival Fund, a global charity for the conservation of the otter, based on the Isle of Skye.

 

Laurence Broderick is predominantly a stone carver, working with many types of stone including Ledmore, Portsoy and Purbeck Marbles, Alabaster, Polyphant Soapstone, Hopton Wood and Ancaster Limestone. He also models in clay, plasticine, plaster and wax for casting into bronze. As well as regular exhibitions on Skye, Laurence has shown his work in successful one-man shows throughout the country and abroad as well as group shows with the Royal Scottish Academy;, Royal Society of British Artists, Royal West of England Academy; Royal Academy; Contemporary Portrait Society and the Society of Wildlife Artists.
