eduard bersudsky (Sharmanka)
Eduard Bersudsky is best known for Sharmanka, and its large mechanical sculptural theatre which can be seen in major public collections. These kinetic shows are hauntingly powerful experiences. The mechanical whirrs and clicks and the strange surreal scenes acted out tell of life's stories. Big themes - death, religion, politics and sex - are dealt with an expression as great as in the finest book, play, painting or piece of music. It is not surprising that St Petesburg born Bersudsky has such universal respect amongst an international artistic community.
Some of his carvings and mechanical carvings are on exhibition over the Christmas 2011 exhibition.
