'Nature is the heart and source of my work. I begin with observation, but the focus moves toward vibrant expression rather than literal description. In this group of paintings, I pushed the editing and refining process a step further in search of the essence of my experience of seeing. The results luxuriate in colour and invite the viewer to immerse themselves and share my delight.'

This is our largest ever exhibition of work by Shona Barr, with over thirty-five new works painted over the last two years. We have called it 'Colour Distilled' because Barr has painted nature and distilled it to a purity of colour. Uplifting, vibrant, brilliant: we hope you are able to make it.
