Nature is always part of Robert McAulay's work - in the skies, trees and grasses, and in 'The Humble Return (an anagram of Turner') in the orange earth. But McAulay's paintings are rarely without the imprint of people. His landscapes, with their dream-like qualities, are always our landscapes. They are places where we, as well as Robert McAulay, can dwell – both in sanctuary and as a reminder.
