Jeanie Merry

Jeanie Merry's work connects us to one moment - the joy in horse's movements, a fleeting expression, a story told by firelight - making that moment tangible through the material she works with. All Merry's chosen mediums - bronze, clay (gathered locally) and plaster - retain the excitement and energy when work was created in her Highland studio. They revel in the power of play, and the wonders that are out there to be found.

“I want to tell stories through my work and materials. It is important that every part of the process has significance; my connection to the subject, the clay sourced locally from Lochinver, my tools hand carved from applewood. I endeavour to affect the viewer, to celebrate the unique beauty of an individual and in that way offer an unseen perspective."

Jeanie Merry is a third-generation Scottish sculptor born in the Highlands. She graduated from Glasgow University with an MA in Art history.
