PAUL BLOOMER: Flight: woodcuts by Paul Bloomer

We are pleased to show the work of Shetland based Paul Bloomer this autumn (19^th Sept – 24^th October 2015). The show includes some of his monolithic Black Country woodcuts and drawings. This is figure painting, or to be more precise drawing, at its best and includes works like his wonderfully powerful crucifixion. It is hard to think of many other painting in the canon of British art that are so moving and humane.

The exhibition also includes the best of his new Shetland woodcuts of birds, the landscape and people. Here we see Bloomer embracing a natural more harmonious world. We also see composition and draftsmanship at their best.
