Rock : Bone : Fire: New work by LOTTE GLOB
Kilmorack Gallery is pleased to announce Rock : Bone : Fire, an exhibition of new ceramic sculpture by Lotte Glob (b 1944.) Known for elemental sculptural work that includes melted rock, skulls, bones, gravel and sediments, Lotte Glob has been at the forefront of ceramic experimentation for over sixty years.
In Rock : Bone: Fire, Lotte Glob has created over fifty ceramic books and wall pieces. Fired with found rocks, bone and sediment, they are sculptural notebooks, reminders of Glob’s long walks in the north – and they bring to them the lessons of a long artistic life.
‘Books hold secrets. They are beautiful. And you can go into the mountains and find a rockface that looks like a whole library of books - pages of rock fired together eons ago. It is like the rocks are telling me something about the past. My books tell something too. They are a diary, a way of remembering wanderings.’ Lotte Glob
We have produced a hardback catalogue to celebrate this latest body of work and Lotte Glob’s extraordinary practice.
